Recently, the Ministry of Labor of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) designed a concrete incentive program for the nationalization of the private sector workplace called the Nitaqat. Its primary aim is placing skilled and qualified Saudis in a career field and creating business growth. Although the Saudization Law was already put forward since 1994, this time the government has already outlined specific processes and timelines to implement it with specific sanctions for those who will not comply. With millions of OFWs working in Saudi Arabia, thousands of OFW families are expected to feel the effects of the Nitaqat at the household level.
In light of this, the Blas F. Ople Policy Center sees the urgent and vital need to inform OFW families about the government’s Reintegration Program to prepare them for its consequences, and to ensure that economic opportunities abound despite external factors affecting them.
Our event dubbed as “OFW Reintegration Fair 2011” shall take place from 8:00am – 5:00pm at the Star Mall Edsa, Mandaluyong City, on July 29, 2011 (Friday). We shall also have other resource persons from the government as well as the private sector, and expect about 150 participants to take part in this event. The fair shall be open for all OFWs free of charge.
The OFW Reintegration Fair 2011 is presented by Blas Ople Policy Center and Training Institute, in partnership with Sagip-OFW, OWWA, and the NRCO, and made possible by Fortune Life Insurance Co, Inc., Passenger Accident Management and Insurance Agency Inc., and Met Tathione.
