Researcher – Analysis of Trafficking in Persons (TIP) Dimension of the proposed Department of Migrant Workers and Overseas Filipinos

The Blas F. Ople Policy Center and Training institute, Inc.  is implementing the PROACT Project aimed at mobilizing support from among Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) and Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) themselves on key policy reforms that would sustain and enhance good practices in facilitating access to justice and reintegration services for trafficked OFWs.  The project is funded by the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) through the Australian Counter Trafficking (ASEAN ACT) Program.

The Research will look at the proposed bills creating a separate Department for Migrant Workers and Overseas Filipinos, examine the provisions that will affect mandates/functions of existing agencies that protect OFWs against TIP, and provide recommendations on how to improve proposed measures and prospective implementing mechanisms to better combat TIP.

The Research output will help stakeholders come up with informed, evidence-based policy proposals.
