On December 12, 2012, which incidentally is also the International Day Against Trafficking, the Blas F. Ople Center will hold its annual Happy OFW Christmas Party at the Ramon Magsaysay Hall, on the second floor of the Social Security System Main Office, East Avenue, Quezon City from 1.00 to 5 P.M.
We expect at least 500 OFW families to celebrate the yuletide season with us as we look back with gratitude at our collective and individual milestones for 2012. Part of our program is the launch of the OFWs for Peace, a coalition of OFW groups and NGOs that support the ongoing efforts to achieve permanent peace in Mindanao through the recently signed Framework Agreement on the Bangsamoro.
The second half of the program will be devoted to the announcement of winners in our Facebook Poster-Making Contest Against Human Trafficking. Our panel of judges led by Ms. Aika Robredo shall be announcing the winners while a representative of our institutional partner, The Asia Foundation, will award the winners. This also marks the very first social media campaign against forced labor trafficking in the Philippines.
We will also be giving out awards of recognition to individuals and institutional partners that have made helping OFWs a lifetime commitment. To round up this joyous yet meaningful occasion, we have invited the Hot Dog Band as well as other celebrities to perform for and extend Christmas greetings to our OFW families.
We are pleased to invite OFWs and their families for this event. Please visit this link to sign-up – http://bit.ly/happyofw
A peaceful and joyous Christmas season to all!
