Government Officials Support Strategic Public Awareness Campaign on Forced Labor Trafficking

A high level meeting on Strategic Public Awareness Campaign on Forced Labor Trafficking was attended by several government officials last October 3, 2012, at Diamond Hotel, Manila. The meeting was called by Blas F. Ople Policy Center and Training Institute headed by its President Susan V. Ople. The objective of the meeting was to solicit government support engage on the issue of forced Labor trafficking.

The Asia Foundation (TAF) provides funding for the project. In her message, Ms. Maribel Buenaobra of TAF welcomes the opportunity to collaborate with Blas F. Ople Policy Center and Training Institute to address the issue of forced labor trafficking since the focus of most advocacy has been on sexual trafficking.

Components of the project were presented that include: 1) High level meeting 2) Policy Forum on Forced Labor Trafficking, 3) Capacity-building Communications Program, 4) Social Media (Facebook) Campaign on human trafficking. Mr. Ryan Ulysses Cruz of Biz Whiz Training and Consultancy made a presentation on the Facebook poster making contest that will help raise awareness on the the issue of forced labor trafficking.

Admin. Hans Cacdac of the Philippine Overseas Employment Agency (POEA), USec. Rafael Seguis of the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), Dep. Admin, Josefino Torres of Overseaas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA), Ms. Ruby Ramores of the Department of Justice (DOJ) and representatives from Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), Office of the Vice-President (OVP) and Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) gave provided their input and manifested their support for the project.
